Rider Bio
Charlie grew up on a farm on the outskirts of Sydney. He started riding young racehorses for his family business when he was 8. After doing an eventing competition aged 13 he was hooked. When boarding school allowed it he competed in eventing and showjumping. After school a gap year ensued where he travelled abroad and worked with horses in Germany and Ireland. A degree in political, economic and social science only sped up the transition to a career with horses. Now he is based on the central coast of Nsw where he focuses on showjumping and starting young horses.
Career
While eventing Charlie had wins and placings up to what is now 4* level. While riding a homebred Irish sport horse gelding Barrel of fun he enjoyed a lot of succes on a horse that was “all heart!”. After competing Timmy Almighty a clydesdale x tb up to Intermediate II dressage he now focuses on Showjumping. His current team of horses includes Bellhaven Cordino and Kph Cocorica. You will see or hear Charlie out and about on the sydney showjumping circuit, teaching a clinic or hosting the equestrian hub podcast.
Highlights
Producing Barrel of Fun and completing the Sydney Three day event in 2012 that was a London Olympic Qualifier.
Winning Quirindi three day event on another horse he produced, Ashmead Her Highness.
Every naughty horse that is shown how to relax and understand its rider better is a highlight.
